Skylab adds new operations leadership: Jennifer Dillan, Marketing and Business Development Director, and Randall Akin, Business Manager

Skylab is pleased to announce the addition of two operations team members, Jennifer Dillan, Marketing and Business Development Director, and Randall Akin, Business Manager. “With these additions,” notes Brent Grubb, Managing Principal for Skylab, “we are solidifying our organizational foundation. We have been fortunate to have incredible opportunities in recent years, capped just this spring with the opening of the Serena Williams Building at Nike Headquarters. We have an amazing staff and the addition of Dillan and Akin will help to leverage the opportunities we have been fortunate to receive and help to guide our efforts going forward.”

Jennifer Dillan

Dillan brings 25 years of experience working in marketing and branding in a variety of industries. In her role, she leads overall direction for the firm’s business development efforts across all of the firm’s focus markets including commercial, hospitality, retail, and residential, as well as the firm’s special expertise in branding, mass timber and planning. She also leads special initiatives including the launch of the firm’s first book, Skylab: The Nature of Buildings, which will be released by Thames & Hudson in early 2023. Dillan holds a Master of Real Estate Development from Portland State University, and business certifications from Cornell and Yale University.

Randall Akin

Akin brings over 20 years of experience in business operations. With a background that spans finance, operations, and human resources, Akin will provide operations and business oversight for the firm. Most recently, he served as Finance Director and Portfolio Director for Global Finance and Strategy and Global Finance Processes at Nike. Akin holds a Master of Business from Portland State University.

In addition to the Serena Williams Building at Nike World Headquarters, the firm’s current and recent work includes projects as wide-ranging as Humbird Hotel at Schweitzer Mountain Resort, a mass timber and modular mountain top hotel and amenities complex in Sandpoint, Idaho; A-Frame, a destination lodge in Winter Park, Colorado; Des Moines Marina Steps, a planning and redesign for the downtown waterfront marina in Des Moines, Washington; and the Oregon Film Museum in Astoria, Oregon.
