Shop.Dine.Design. Event In Waco To Benefit The Common Thread For The Cure

Shop.Dine.Design., a furnishings industry fundraising event to benefit The Common Thread For The Cure Foundation, will be held in the heart of Waco, Texas on Tuesday, September 26, 2017. It is anticipated that designers from all of Texas will be participating in this inaugural event. While the primary goal of the Shop.Dine.Design. event is to raise money for The Common Thread For The Cure, this event also wants to bring new business to the town and to celebrate “all things Waco”.

The day’s events will kick off at the Common Grounds Coffee Shop at 10:00 a.m. with a discussion on How I Design by esteemed textile designer, Sina Pearson. Following this discussion, Waco Tours will give homage to the design movement in Waco, and be conducting morning and afternoon tours of local renovated houses including the Shotgun House, Gorman House, German Schmear House and others. Tours will also be visiting the Castle Heights neighborhood. When not touring, designers can visit any of the local retailers, all within walking distance, and shop for unique, handcrafted and antique items, including products that are featured on the house tours. In addition to these activities, The Backyard Bar and Grill (located close to the Shotgun House and Magnolia Market) will host an afternoon Block Party running from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Here designers can have lunch, enjoy music, participate in a leisurely yard game, catch up on emails, or simply chat with friends. Sina Pearson and other local celebrities (homeowners) will be dropping in to share their experiences in this movement.

The event also includes an educational component, as buses transporting designers from both Dallas and Austin, Texas will feature presentations during the trip to allow designers to earn continuing education units (CEU). Unifi Inc. will also be on site to discuss the evolution of recycled fibers and their place in today’s commercial marketplace.

Event tickets are being offered now at at $100.00 per person through August 31st. Beginning on September 1st, the ticket price will be $125.00 per person. Capacity is limited, so tickets are available on a first come, first serve basis.

About The Common Thread For The Cure

The Common Thread For The Cure, a 501(c)(3) Foundation was established in 2000. The Common Thread For The Cure strives to unite the furnishings industry in the battle against breast cancer. The Foundation offers financial assistance through confidential Helping Hand Grants to those within the furnishings industry who are fighting breast cancer. A grant aids the recipient and their family in areas where insurance does not apply. For example, a grant can be used to meet financial obligations, household needs and transportation to medical appointments. Individuals affiliated with the furnishings industry currently battling breast cancer can request a Helping Hand Grant either for themselves or for a member of their immediate family (parent, spouse, child).
