In the occasion of the Milan Design Week 2016 a new brand debuts, Milestone Design, which launches itsĀ first collection of minimal and monumental bathroom furnitures designed by MIST-O.
Does the design market need new brands? No. It requires new ideas that give form to the needs and dreams of the contemporary world. An evolution.
With this in mind, MILESTONE DESIGN makes its debut today, a creator of household architecture. A new brand but with decades of experience and know-how, it is a product of the expertise of Milestone Contract, a company that has long specialized in realizing the futuristic creative projects and installations of great names in contemporary architecture, ranging from Daniel Libeskind, Piero Lissoni and Patricia Urquiola to Kengo Kuma, Marcio Kogan and GamFratesi.
The challenge of designing with this material, which is the core value of the project, has given life to MILESTONE DESIGN, which intends to bring the charm and power of large-scale projects into the home, presenting them in the more intimate, human dimension of objects.
For its first collaboration MILESTONE DESIGN has called on MIST-O, the talented studio made up of Tommaso Nani and Noa Ikeuchi, based in Milan and Tokyo. In a scenographic set-up called CONTINUUM, the duo is presenting a preview of the a collection which comprises two series of furnishings for the bathroom that explore the boundaries between furniture and architecture, between small and great, vertical and horizontal, in a series of harmonic compositions, as minimalist as they are monumental. The starting point is the material: a natural conglomerate of the latest generation, eco-compatible and high performing, which, usually used in sidings and casings for interiors and exteriors, is instead molded into very thin sheets to give shape to a series of modular furniture that can be combined in different, custom ways. This singular material, with the exception of some small technical components, is not just the āskinā of each piece, but it is their structure, dĆ©cor, and total identity, overcoming a production challenge. The HORIZON series is based on the concept of three single elements (sink, drawers and shelves), with precious inserts in brass, to be composed into domestic micro-structures of a maxi – or mini- format; the MASS series plays with the extreme modularity of the elements (sink, drawers, containers and shelves) that create monoliths in the space like sculptures, which are also available in small or enormous dimensions, with accessories possible in a different material, such as wood.
For the first time a brand is offering an entire domestic landscape.
The natural conglomerate is the material of the new offerings for the bathroom, but at the same time it is ideal to cover walls and floors, creating a new harmony, a totalizing aesthetic of the interior, a ācontinuumā.
