RobertAllen.Naturals2Robert Allen is launching the latest in its Naturals Multi-Purpose series with a wealth of fashion-forward embroideries and embellishments that radiate a unique, handcrafted aesthetic in each piece. The collection also includes a fresh, blue color story, evoking the charm and sun-soaked style of the Mediterranean. With a focus on dry fibers and textural constructions, Naturals radiates a relaxed elegance ideal for layering and mixing fabrics.

Robert Allen Design Director Hannah Alderson notes, ““We wanted this collection to have a handmade sensibility, so we used techniques like woodblock, ikat, and applique as inspiration. Naturals shows that ‘‘natural’’ doesn’’t mean ‘‘neutral,’’ with a playful mix of colors and designers that give a relaxed, bohemian look.””

RobertAllen.Naturals3Two color stories dominate the collection: the tropical Calypso Blue-Coral Reef-Spring Grass and the mellow Driftwood-Smoke-Navy Blazer. The rich colors pop against crisp white and linen grounds, punctuated by on-trend accents such as Silver and Lemon. Each hue is may be complemented by other Robert Allen fabrics from Color Library collections including Botanical Color (Spring 2015) and Landscape Color (Fall 2015).

The collection reflects old-word techniques in its designs, but updates them with modern flair. Intricate suzanis are presented in 21st century color palettes, and an embroidered open lattice pattern takes on a pixelated effect. The washed fabrics are made from dry fibers and maintain an incredibly soft hand, with linen and cotton constructions serving as the basis for the majority of the textiles.

Patterns of note include:

Benchi, a multi-colored embroidery, features a suzani medallion.

Carbuckle is a sophisticated lattice design with a high-end, silky look.

Hidarka combines applique and embroidery techniques to create a modern abstract design.

Sumona exudes luxury with an allover shimmery embroidery on a cotton ground.

Vangali alternates colors in its embroidered squares to give its open lattice pattern a pixelated effect.
