Inspired by a thirst for travel, Robert Allen’s latest collaboration with DwellStudio, Modern Caravan, captures the spirit of exotic enclaves around the world. Motifs and craft techniques from India, North Africa, and China are prevalent in the line, given a modern twist when updated with DwellStudio’s signature mid-century modern flair.
Robert Allen Design Director Hannah Alderson explains, “The DwellStudio team always selects such dynamic points of inspiration. In this case, their experiences with travel worldwide are infused in the collection, through the varied techniques and eclectic patterns to the spicy color palette. The collection rings true to the sophistication and modernity that are expected from Robert Allen and DwellStudio.”
The designs reflect the collection’s worldly influence. A playful leaping tiger serves as the line’s signature critter print, and a DwellStudio-Robert Allen favorite, Plume, has also been updated and given a new spectrum of colorations. Florals and geometrics also pop up throughout the collection, such as a tribal stripe or a delicate foliage print in tone-on-tone hues. The color palette includes saturated colors, such as Persimmon, Bronze, Dandelion, and Ink that add a richness and warmth to the textiles.

Hanabi Burst uses tonal hues to add softness to its dense foliage print.
Kavali Ogee draws inspiration from Indian block printing techniques.

Plume Redux, a dramatic spin on a DwellStudio-Robert Allen classic, displays oversized birds in a chinoiserie style print.
Rajita Tiger’s playful pack of tigers creates a bold statement print based on paintings from the Mughal Empire.
