Rizz: between charm and elegance

Pedrali presents the new table designed by Robin Rizzini

“Rizz is a word that means charm, elegance. The main character of the table is given by the aluminium structure, a material having the language of metal but at the same time being also very flexible to shape and very gentle in a way.”

Launched at the 62nd edition of Salone del Mobile.Milano, Rizz is the new table designed by Robin Rizzini evoking the traditional 60s aluminium tables whose simplified shapes suit both residential and workspaces.

Rizz is featured by an aluminium frame: the designer’s passion for this material, combined with Pedrali manufacturing experience, resulted in a table that ensures strength and lightness at the same time.

The restained use of raw material confirms the company commitment to sustainability. Aluminium is a recycled and durable material that guarantees durability. Furthermore, the table is designed to be disassembled, allowing it to be fully recycled at the end of its life cycle.

A distinctive feature of Rizz is its four tapered legs made of die-cast aluminium. Starting with a triangular section facing outwards, they gradually vary in curve as they extend downward, tapering into a round section that elegantly rests on the floor. “There’s a very nice transition between the heads of the casting and then the resulting shape to the floor and that gives, in my opinion, a very nice sense of elegance. The Rizz is the more gentle of the tables in terms of design and concept behind it” – tells the designer.

The legs are featured by a sinuous curve directed towards the centre of the table top for optimised seating spaces.

The table is defined by a structural solidity concealed within clean lines. It seamlessly integrates legs into a hidden supporting framework beneath the tabletop, ensuring both aesthetic elegance and utmost stability. It can support large, thin tabletops, available in rectangular or square shapes with rounded corners or circular designs, customisable in a variety of finishes. As the designer explains: “One of the main features of Rizz is the ability to be structured in different forms and, in spite of the dimension of the leg, which looks very thin, the structure is very strong and you can have very long tables”.

Pedrali
Beauty, tradition and innovation

Pedrali is an Italian company that produces contemporary furniture for contract and residential. The industrially designed, functional and versatile collections are the result of a process that combines tradition, innovation and engineering excellence. Entirely developed in Italy, they are made of metal, plastic material, wood and upholstery, also in combination with each other. Pedrali’s products are the result of synergic collaboration with Italian and international designers who, with their invaluable contribution, make it possible to obtain important awards. The most prestigious in 2011: the XXII Compasso d’Oro ADI for the Frida chair, designed by Odo Fioravanti. The 100% Made in Italy philosophy becomes real through the internal production in the Headquarters of Mornico al Serio (Bergamo), where the automated warehouse designed by Cino Zucchi-CZA Cino Zucchi Architetti is based, and in the wooden manufacturing in Manzano (Udine).

The high quality and respect for the environment represent long-established practices for Pedrali. This is proved, for example, by the source of FSC® C114358 certified wood from adequately managed forests, for which water-based coatings composed mostly of plant-derived resins are used. Since 2018, Pedrali has been calculating its Corporate Carbon Footprint and obtained the certification according to UNI EN ISO 14064-1:2019. Pedrali’s commitment to continuous improvement, as well as concrete actions related to the quality of raw materials and production plants, is demonstrated by system and product certifications such as UNI EN ISO 9001:2015 for its quality management system, UNI EN ISO 14001:2015 for its sustainable environmental management, and UNI ISO 45001:2018 for occupational health and safety management systems, obtained in 2023. In 2020, the company launched its first “recycled grey” collections made from recycled polypropylene, 50% post-consumer waste and 50% industrial waste. Following this process, Pedrali has obtained from 2022 the ReMade in Italy® certification. The greenguard and greenguard gold product certifications, with reference to a specific standard, ensure low emissions of volatile organic compounds in order to guarantee a chemical-free environment. 2023 marked an important milestone for Pedrali: 60 years since the founding of the company that dates back to 1963. For the occasion, the Pedrali Pavilion was designed by AMDL CIRCLE and Michele De Lucchi to house the exhibition “Pedrali60, we design a better future” curated by Luca Molinari Studio. Pedrali Pavilion, in its second life, will become a permanent space with an auditorium to host events and talks, to meet designers, architects, students, and the next generations, introducing them to the manufacturing industry.
