Rimadesio Introduces the Carpets Collection – A Collaboration with Juma

We are pleased to share that Rimadesio has expanded into the world of textiles with a refined yet visually compelling new Carpets Collection in collaboration with multidisciplinary studio, Juma.

The introductions include three striking designs that celebrate the beauty of natural materials and the artistry of handcrafted techniques. Kanji, an aptly named woven creation made using the kilim technique, features a hand-knotted pile at its center, reminiscent of the bold brushstrokes found in traditional Japanese ideograms. In Japan, kanji are logographic characters, each carrying a world of meaning. Miglio, meanwhile, is composed of a blend of different fibers, hand-woven to create a welcoming ‘curled’ effect. Kita, which is also woven with a kilim technique, features a delicate braid running through its center that recalls the characteristics of a mountain ridge.

KANJI

Kanji features a prominent, hand-knotted pile that elegantly captures the essence of the brush strokes found in Japanese ideograms. Composed of wool from Kashmir and Rajasthan—two locales known for producing quality fibers with exceptional durability and abrasion resistance—Kanji is made in India’s Uttar Pradesh region, through artisanal loom weaving. The careful combination with the dhurrie pile at the weaving stage results in the special mark that characterizes the design. Kanji comes in an elegant ivory hue.

Composition: 90% wool, 10% cotton.

MIGLIO

Made in India in the northern state of Rajasthan, Miglio is composed of superior untreated virgin wool fibers from New Zealand, artisanally wrapped in a thin jute yarn which is then woven into a cotton warp. The careful selection of the different wool colors is the basis of the special mélange effect that characterizes the piece. Miglio is available in three colorways—Rice, Grey (right), and Charcoal (left)—and in two sizes along with a round format.

Composition: 70% wool, 10% jute, and 20% custom.

KITA

Kita features a delicate central brad that is intricately woven from the fabric threads using a kilim technique. Reminiscent of the mesmerizing contours of a mountain ridge, the design is also composed of wool from Kashmir and Rajasthan—regions known for producing quality fibers that are durable and abrasion-resistant. The relief mark is achieved through the hand weaving of the same thread during the production phase. Kita comes in Granite (left), Forest, and Clay (right).

Composition: 90% wool, 10% cotton.
