PurOptima Launches the Edge Bi-Fold Doors in the U.S.

Acoustic performance and space-saving design make it ideal for today’s offices

PurOptima, a U.S.-headquartered and renowned global manufacturer of sustainable interior glass wall partitions and doors, announces the debut of the Edge Bi-Fold Door in the U.S.

The Edge Bi-Fold Door is a single-glazed solution used with PurOptima Microflush door frames and designed for seamless integration with the PurOptima 117 Plus system.  With a maximum door height of 2600mm (102.36″) and a maximum door width of 1200mm (47.24″), this is a sleek hinged bi-fold door option perfect for any workspace.

Available in a space-saving two-panel configuration, it’s perfect for areas where traditional swing or sliding doors aren’t feasible. Ideal for small, single-person privacy spaces, it easily works with any of PurOptima’s glass wall solutions including the Revolution 54 system, which is a bespoke option.

Ideal for office and meeting rooms where acoustic privacy is key, this innovative door system offers a unique design feature as well as a space-saving solution. Available with 12mm (0.47″) or 12.8mm (0.5″) Acoustic Laminate glass, the Edge Bi-Fold door can achieve up to Rw33dB in soundproofing capability.

“Door sizing and function and its impact to usable space inside smaller rooms is frequently a challenge with traditional swing doors. The Edge Bi-Fold Door provides options to have an acoustically performing solution, similar to a swing door, without dimensional limitations delivered with traditional swing door solutions,” states Kevin Mayer, PurOptima’s Commercial Director.

In alignment with PurOptima’s commitment to circular economic principles, the Edge Bi-Fold doors integrate Hydro CIRCAL aluminum into each product. This recycled aluminum, with the lowest documented embodied carbon on the market, now delivers a reduced carbon footprint of 1.9 kg of CO2e/kg aluminum, down from the previous 2.3 kg of CO2e/kg.

PurOptima’s collaboration with local project delivery partners ensures that aluminum doors are fabricated locally, while all glass is sourced from American fabricators, often local to each project. By utilizing Hydro CIRCAL, PurOptima continues to set new benchmarks in sustainable practices, offering a competitive carbon advantage unparalleled in the U.S. building product industry.

As with all PurOptima’s products, the Edge Bi-Fold glass doors are fully tested for acoustic performance and certified by third-party assessors. Full test reports for this product are available on request.
