Pickard Chilton Announces Promotions

Pickard Chilton, an award-winning architecture studio, announces the promotion of six professionals. Owen Howlett rises to associate principal, Andrew Gorzkowski and Thomas Frechette are senior associates, while Lila Sferlazza, Macario Bandera, and Sofia Zavala each have been named associates.

“We are excited to announce the elevation of Owen, Andrew, Thomas, Lila, Macario and Sofia, whose dedication and leadership have been essential to the studio,” said principal Jon Pickard of Pickard Chilton. “The growth of Pickard Chilton has been in large part to the creative and innovative talent that makes up the studio, and each of these professionals have played a significant role in those contributions,” added principal William Chilton.

Owen Howlett

Owen Howlett AIA, LEED AP, who joined the firm in 2015, is currently leading the design teams for several large-scale, mixed-use master plans including such significant developments as the Le Coeur project, a complex repositioning of existing and new buildings on one of the most prominent sites in Düsseldorf, Germany, and CoStar Group’s new corporate campus in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Howlett received his Master of Architecture degree from Yale School of Architecture and a Bachelor of Science in Architecture and minor in Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia.

Andrew Gorzkowski

Andrew Gorzkowski AIA, LEED GA is currently a project designer for 887 West Peachtree, a state-of-the-art office tower that will be among the tallest to rise in Midtown Atlanta, Georgia. Joining the firm in 2013, he has played a key role in the design of 2+U, a LEED-CS Platinum office tower in Seattle, Washington; Remscheid Designer Outlet Centre, an open-air low-rise luxury retail development in Remscheid, Germany; and confidential mixed-use developments in Florida and Tokyo, Japan. Mr. Gorzkowski received his Bachelor of Architecture from Cornell University.

Thomas Frechette

Thomas Frechette AIA brings more than 30 years of design experience on a broad range of innovative corporate, mixed-use, research, and cultural projects. He is currently co-leader of the design of the CoStar Group’s new campus in Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Frechette holds a Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Miami and received his Master of Architecture from Yale University School of Architecture.

Lila Sferlazza

Lila Sferlazza is currently a key designer for a 1.25 million gsf corporate mass timber campus in California. Recently, she was a designer for 325 Main, Google Cambridge’s next-generation headquarters in Cambridge, Massachusetts. Ms. Sferlazza holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.

Macario Bandera

Macario Bandera is serving as project designer for Sherwin-Williams’ 36-story new corporate headquarters in Cleveland, Ohio. Most recently, he was a contributing designer for a Human Performance Institute, a medical and sports rehabilitation clinic. Mr. Bandera was also a key team member for a 35-story confidential corporate headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio. He holds a Bachelor of Architecture from Iowa State University.

Sofia Zavala

Sofia Zavala is currently a project designer for the PG&E Block Redevelopment in San Francisco, California, a 1.6 million gsf redevelopment project. Ms. Zavala has experience developing and coordinating all phases of design and construction services, holding key roles on numerous mixed-use, corporate, and commercial projects ranging from large scale master planning to interior design. She received a Bachelor of Architecture from Syracuse University with a minor in theater design and technology.
