Roberts will Oversee the Firm’s New York Office and Help Lead the Next Chapter of the Firm’s Growth

Suomi Design Works is pleased to announce the promotion of Carly Roberts to Studio Leader. Since joining the firm in 2023 as Senior Interior Designer, Roberts has played a pivotal role in shaping the studio’s design identity, creative vision, and narrative-driven approach to hospitality design. In her new position, she will oversee the firm’s New York office while leading the design and execution of the firm’s projects, helping to guide its continued evolution and growth.
“We are thrilled to recognize Carly’s contributions to Suomi Design Works with this well-deserved promotion,” said Michael Suomi, Founder and Principal of Suomi Design Works. He continues, “Since joining the firm, she has consistently demonstrated exceptional creativity, leadership, and dedication, helping to shape both our projects and our studio culture. Carly has embraced every challenge with confidence and insight, and her ability to lead with both vision and collaboration makes her the ideal person to oversee our New York office.”
Most recently, Roberts led the renovation of Hyatt Regency Jersey City on the Hudson, overseeing the complete transformation of the hotel’s public spaces, restaurant, and guestrooms. Inspired by Jersey City’s legacy as a vital transportation hub, she guided the project from initial concept development and design documentation through final execution, ensuring a cohesive vision at every stage. Completed in 2026, the renovation has garnered significant industry recognition, earning honors at the Hospitality Design Awards and the NYCxDESIGN Awards.
Roberts also played a key role in Suomi Design Works’ design of the recently-announced Cabins at Streamsong Golf Resort. Slated for completion in late 2026, the project reimagines the rhythm and strategy of golf through a warm, communal hospitality experience, with each four-bedroom suite drawing its material palette and tonal character from one of the four primary golf club archetypes. Working closely with the team at DMAC Architecture, Roberts helped ensure a seamless dialogue between the exterior architecture and interior environments.
