Framery Welcomes Renowned Designer Joonas Vartola

From Electric Cars and Drones to Soundproof Pods: Meet Framery’s New Chief Design Officer

Framery, the global pioneer for soundproof office pods, has announced the appointment of Joonas Vartola as its new Chief Design Officer. Vartola, who was an instrumental designer in award-winning projects for companies such as Tesla, SpaceX, Skydio, and Mazda, brings that track record of innovation to Framery, where he will now oversee all facets of design as the brand continues to expand its global presence.

“I’ve always been drawn to projects where the physical and digital worlds merge to create a truly seamless user experience,” says Vartola. “This is exactly what Framery’s offering is about, and I’m particularly drawn to the scale of its mission. The opportunity to impact millions of workers and help turn thousands of ordinary offices into spaces people truly love is a design challenge of a different magnitude.”

Vartola is no stranger to the challenge of reimagining the physical workspace to meet the demands of modern work. He has collaborated with Framery since the company’s first smart pod, the Framery One. This project kickstarted Framery’s smart office solutions and the pod has since become one of the most-sold globally.

Vartola will report directly to the CEO. “Creating the Chief Design Officer role and welcoming a talent of Joonas’s caliber is a natural evolution for us,” said Samu Hällfors, CEO of Framery. “As we continue our growth journey, our design excellence must remain second to none. Joonas’s proven ability to innovate on a global scale and seamlessly blend physical and digital experiences makes him the perfect fit for us.”

A Proven Design Leader

Joonas Vartola brings to Framery a wealth of experience across automotive and industrial design, characterized by a highly versatile and business-driven career. He has delivered impactful projects in-house, serving as Senior Designer at Tesla where he worked on the Model 3, S, X, and Y. He has also excelled as a consulting entrepreneur and through his own studio, Co-founding Partner & Creative Designer at Ultra Design & Strategy Ltd., where he led complex product-concept projects from early sketch to production. His past projects feature globally recognized names including Skydio, Fiskars, Axopar, Wärtsilä, and Rolls-Royce Marine.

Educated at the Royal College of Art, London, Joonas is appreciated for his clear, structured approach and his mastery of proportion, form and function. He is also known for bridging the gap between high-concept design and practical execution – whether that’s crafting interiors fit for space travel or the every-gram-matters precision needed for drone design.
