Ones to Watch Winners to be Honored at Design Chicago October 5
Chicago’s Up and Coming Interior Design Professionals Toasted during Design Chicago Wednesday, October 5, 5-7pm
Each year in preparation for Design Chicago, October 4-5, the Design Center showrooms at Chicago’s Merchandise Mart nominate interior designers who have demonstrated creativity, originality and overall great design. This year’s winners, Laurie Demetrio, Steve Somogyi and Filip Malyszko, and SuzAnn Kletzien, will be honored at a reception on Wednesday, October 5, to culminate the Midwest’s largest interior design event.

Laurie Demetrio Interiors
After Laurie Demetrio received a B.A. in design from the University of Norte Dame, she attended The Harrington College of Design, where she earned a B.F.A in Interior Design. Her curriculum included treasured time advancing her studies in Paris. Following 11 years of working as a designer with Jessica Lagrange Interiors in Chicago, Laurie founded Laurie Demetrio Interiors in April 2014, where she has continued to pursue her life’s passion. Using her well trained eye and innate sense of style, she draws upon her extensive list of resources to curate thoughtfully designed spaces. While fusing a broad range of styles from ultra-modern and eclectic to the traditional, she listens carefully to translate her client’s vision into reality.
steve + filip design
Style meets charm, reinvention meets function, contemporary aesthetic meets the feel of home — this is steve + filip design. The Chicago based design firm is a two-man team, Steve Somogyi and Filip Malyszko. The roots of the company began when Steve worked in residential real estate, brokering high-end homes. His love of design soon overtook his heart and soul and he began to consult his clients on concepts for their homes and offices. During this time, he met Filip over a drafting table at Harrington College of Design. After graduation, they joined forces and eventually exchanged rings to become a husband and husband team. For over a decade, the duo has specialized in full service strategies for new construction and renovations. Their goal is to create unique schemes for homes, offices, and retail spaces with an emphasis on quality and elegance.
SuzAnn Kletzien Design
Working as a designer in Newport Beach, SuzAnn planned and remodeled residential and commercial spaces for Schlemmer+Algaze+Associates, a commercial Architecture and Design Firm. In Chicago, she worked as a Design Consultant for Montauk Sofa, and designed kitchen and baths at Smartrooms. SuzAnn quickly fell in love with the unique design challenges and opportunities of urban Chicago and launched SuzAnn Kletzien Design as a full service Interior Design Firm to provide projects of any size a broad array of industry resources, an attention to detail, and passion for design. The firm provides everything from meticulous fabric selections, integration of fascinating and unexpected elements, and diligent management of budgets and deadlines.
