NY11+ held the ribbon cutting, opening the 2019 Interior Design Student Exhibition, “Interior Design: Designing for Wellness”, on April 2 at Teknion in New York City.  The exhibition displayed through April 12 and featured student work from the NY11+ schools.  Jessica Rose Cooper, Chief Commercial Officer at the International WELL Building Institute, as well as Myron Johnson, Junior Operations Supervisor & Head of PR at NYC Port Authority and Mary Beth Sullivan, NY Regional VP of Sales at Teknion assisted Ruth Lynford, Founder of NY11+, in cutting the ribbon.

After which, Benjamin Huntington, ASID, NCIDQ, NYS CID, Principal at Veritate Design, moderated a very engaging and informative discussion which featured experts who discussed wellness design as it pertains to both LEED and WELL Building Standards.  Panelists included: Rebecca Dorris Steiger, Senior Designer at Gensler, Suzette Subance, Managing Executive & Studio Creative Director at TPG Architecture and Angela Spangler, Director of Marketing Development Team at the International WELL Building Institute.  The program was followed by a reception where refreshments were served.

NY11+ was founded in 1997 by Ruth Lynford, FASID, CID, AIA Assoc., as an exhibition of work from prestigious New York State educational institutions, all offering programs in Interior Design of four-years or more. To date, more than a dozen schools join together each year an effort to reach the general public, the press and the design community through their students’ work.

Participating NY11+ schools include Buffalo State College, Cazenovia College, Cornell University, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York Institute of Technology, New York School of Interior Design, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, Sage College of Albany, School of Visual Arts, Syracuse University and Villa Maria College.
