Jennifer Busch (Teknion VP of A+D), Ethan Lu (IDLNY President), Dan Villella (IDLNY Past-President) and Ruth Lynford (NY11+ Founder) cut the ribbon at the 2018 exhibition opening at the Teknion showroom in NYC

The New York Eleven Plus (NY11+) Annual Interior Design Student Exhibition, this year titled Interior Design: Designing for Wellness, will open at the Teknion showroom in New York City on April 2, 2019.

NY11+ was founded in 1997 by Ruth Lynford, FASID, CID, AIA Assoc., as an exhibition of work from prestigious New York State educational institutions, all offering programs in Interior Design of four-years or more.  To date, more than a dozen schools join together each year in an effort to reach the general public, the press and the design community through their students’ work.

The exhibition has raised awareness of the complexity and responsibilities of the interior design profession as it applies to the health, safety and welfare of the public.

The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on April 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the Teknion showroom, located at 641 6th Avenue, 2nd floor.  Immediately following the ribbon cutting ceremony, a short panel presentation will feature experts who will discuss wellness design as it relates to both LEED and WELL Building Standards.  Moderated by Benjamin Huntington, Veritate Design.  Panelists include: Rebecca Dorris Steiger, Senior Designer at Gensler, Suzette Subance, Managing Executive & Studio Creative Director at TPG Architecture and Angela Spangler, Director of Market Development team at International WELL Building Institute.  Reception will follow.  Space is limited; please RSVP by March 29 to rsvp@ny11plus.org.  No entry will be permitted without RSVP.

Participating NY11+ schools include Buffalo State College, Cazenovia College, Fashion Institute of Technology, New York Institute of Technology, New York School of Interior Design, Parsons School of Design, Pratt Institute, Rochester Institute of Technology, Sage College of Albany, School of Visual Arts, Syracuse University and Villa Maria College.
