The HON Company recently welcomed design students from across the Washington D.C. metro area to its D.C. showroom for an immersive career day event on Wednesday, October 23. The event offered emerging designers the opportunity to engage with industry professionals and gain perspective into potential career paths.
The day began with a panel discussion led by moderator Heather Dawson, HON’s Region Market Manager, and featured accomplished designers Kala Fagan (NCIDQ, IIDA), Associate Director of Design at OTJ Architects; Heather Palmisano, Design Studio Supervisor at HNI Workplace Furnishings; and Kelli Jenkins (IIDA), Senior Interior Designer at Henricksen. Each panelist shared their perspectives on career growth across various roles in architecture, design, dealerships and manufacturing, providing students with a comprehensive view of professional opportunities within the industry.
In addition to insights into industry trends and innovations in office furniture design, the event offered students valuable career guidance and strategies for success. Attendees also had the chance to connect with panelists during a networking lunch, explore HON’s innovative showroom through an in-depth tour and receive complimentary professional headshots.
