The answer will be covered in a webinar on August 3rd with panelists including James Perry, an expert with Cerami & Associates, and organized by The Center for Health Design, on the construction of the AIA National Healthcare Design Award-winning Lunder Building at Massachusetts General Hospital.
Most patients report noise pollution as one of the main sources of distress during their hospital stays. The new webinar, “The Importance of Acoustics on Patient Care: A Case Study on The Lunder Building,” offers real answers to this pressing healthcare challenge. As the webinar will show, the key is for designers of hospitals and other healthcare facilities to ensure all essential medical equipment is available while still providing the quiet environment patients need for their recovery.
Perry, Cerami’s chief technical officer and partner, will discuss methods to cut vibration levels, reduce major noise sources such as HVAC systems, improve the sound isolating performance of doors, and even address intrusive noise from the outside.
Using the Lunder Building, 535,000-square-foot, 150-bed mid-rise hospital tower as a case study, Perry will address the impact of building acoustics on both caregivers and patients.
