New Textiles from Keilhauer: Old World Charm, Of-the-Moment Style

As corporate environments transition to livable, “resimercial” styled spaces, textile selection is taking new directions with designers exploring an at-home feel and demonstrating a revitalized interest in patterns and texture. With this in mind, Keilhauer has introduced two new upholstery lines: Emerson, a beautiful piece-dyed jacquard, and Kura, an Alpaca mohair velvet. Both of Keilhauer’s new textile introductions present with an old-world charm that appeals to design today and the need to make spaces feel lived-in.

Emerson

EMERSON

Emerson uses chenille yarn to create texture with an understated horizontal rib; this quiet play of pattern comes to life in bright or natural light and can enhance virtually any seating style or space. The pattern wears extremely well and tailors beautifully to even the most highly contoured pieces.

The Emerson color palette consists of 15 beautiful colors ranging from deeply saturated blues, greens and reds to gentle neutrals. Available on all of Keilhauer’s upholstered offerings, Emerson is made from 80 per cent, post-consumer polyester – made from recycled plastic bottles diverted from landfill – and 20 per cent virgin polyester and with an acrylic backing. It has excellent, class five colorfastness and Heavy Duty abrasion resistance, surpassing 100,000 double rubs.

Kura

KURA

Kura Twilight

Kura is a stunning, grand-dame velvet that provides incredible color, texture, luxury, and a striking statement. Made from Alpaca, its fibers are woven into an ultra-dense and durable pile that is better able to resist marking and distortion than traditional mohair velvets. It’s then sheared to the perfect height to make for a marvelous hand.  A timeless color palette helps to retain Kura’s lasting appeal – allowing it to feel current regardless of how the fabric may trend. The curated palette of 12 colors provides a shimmering elegance that will stand the test of time – whether in a pale silver like Old Platinum or in the dark, inky tone of Blue Black.

Kura is made from a blend of 60 per cent Alpaca mohair, 27 per cent virgin wool and 13 per cent polyamide. Its luxurious feel is backed by durability with class four colorfastness and Heavy Duty abrasion resistance.

Emerson and Kura integrate stylistically and chromatically with each other and with other recent Keilhauer fabric introductions, particularly Oonathe vibrant bouclé knit introduced in 2017. Together, these new upholstery options make it easier than ever to design an entire project using Keilhauer furniture and textiles, thus providing a simple and attractive solution to modern design challenges.
