New Heads Up Magalogue From Keilhauer

Keilhauer is excited to introduce a new magazine-meets-catalogue hybrid, or magalogue: Heads Up. The publication will focus on a variety of topics pertinent to commercial interior design including, tables, face-to-face communication, meeting rooms and more. The premiere edition, Transforming Tables, underscores the importance of tables in facilitating workplace conversations and relationships.

The prevalence of social media and image sharing has helped bring new voices to the forefront of the design community. It has also raised expectations about what marketing should look like, where it should take place and how it should connect with people. Careful curation, replacing sales-speak with information of value and a focus on real-life applications were key inspirations for the magalogue’s layout. Heads Up observes today, imagines tomorrow and designs into that possible future.

“We wanted to create something more authentic than the traditional beauty shot used everywhere so that we could better connect with designers and design enthusiasts. However, these new photographic perspectives don’t align with the traditional owned-earned-paid marketing model. It required a hybrid approach and a new communication vehicle which transcends the typical mix,” explains Jackie Maze, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, Keilhauer.

The name Heads Up was inspired by Keilhauer’s business focus: the design and manufacturing of seating and tables that facilitate face-to-face communication. “Being able to exchange ideas is fundamental to any business’ success. Well planned, heads up work spaces — such as lounges, lunch rooms, break-out spaces and meeting rooms — are a crucial design feature which let employees know their thoughts and ideas are valuable resources, while encouraging collegiality and trust,” says Maze.

Heads Up, Issue One: Transforming Tables features creative direction and graphic design by, Keilhauer’s longtime creative agency, Concrete Design Communications, an essay by Journalist Vicky Sanderson, and the work of celebrated photographer Michael Crichton. The issue also features illustrations by Adrian Farrow and photography by Steve Krug, Brian Sano and Colin Falkner.
