In memoriam of Brian D. Lutz

Brian D. Lutz, 73, passed away peacefully on December 24, 2016.

Brian started his career in our industry in sales for Knoll in New York, N.Y. His intellect, quick wit and friendly charm made him a favorite of his colleagues, many of whom stayed in close contact with him as his career moved from Knoll to Artek in Helsinki, Finland to Lammhults in Sweden; among others. In later life, he authored the first definitive book on the furniture of Eero Saarinen and the highly acclaimed history of Knoll, Knoll: A Modernist Universe.

He was the fiancé of Maria Wermelin of Saltsjobaden, Sweden.

Born in Reading, PA Brian was a son of the late J. William and Laurabell K. (Wentzel) Lutz. He graduated from of Mount Penn High School in 1961 and Penn State University with a BS in Biology.

In addition to his fiancé, Brian is survived by two daughters, Delia V.A. Lutz and Annika I.A. Lutz, wife of Adam M. Cubbler, of Philadelphia; one sister, Nancy J., wife of William Stanton, and their daughter, Miranda, Maria’s children: Karolina, Erik and Johanna; and his beloved dog, Ari.

A memorial service was held this past Saturday,  January 7, 2017, in the Lutz Funeral Home, in Reading, Pa.
