Andreu World launches the 25th edition of its International Design Contest, a call that celebrates a quarter century of promoting emerging talent on a global scale. Since its creation in 2001, this competition has become the longest running in the world in its category and the only one specialized in the design of seating and tables.
Over its 25-year history, the competition has brought together more than 35,000 participants from over one hundred countries and has featured 127 international jurors, including leading figures such as Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola, Jasper Morrison, Mario Bellini, Paola Antonelli, Rossana Orlandi, and Erwan Bouroullec. More than 200 schools worldwide have also taken part. This diversity and excellence have helped establish the competition as a leading international platform for discovering and showcasing new generations of designers.
The contest is verified by the World Design Organization in terms of social, economic, environmental, equality, and design protection criteria, reinforcing its rigor, transparency, and commitment to best practices at an international level. Under the theme of this special edition, “Manufacturing the Future,” Andreu World invites students and design professionals to submit furniture proposals that reflect the values that have defined the company since 1955: sustainability, innovation, quality, industrial culture, and social commitment. Projects must address current design challenges from a responsible perspective, embracing the circular economy and generating a positive impact on people and the planet, in line with its status as a B Corp® company.
The contest is open, with no age limit, and allows for individual or group participation. Throughout its different editions, it has awarded designers who are now recognized figures when they were still emerging.
The international jury for this edition is chaired by Pradyumna Vyas, President of the World Design Organization, and includes interior designer Natalia Zubizarreta, Annamaria Anderloni of Foster & Partners, German designer Stefan Diez, and Álvaro Matías, Director of Madrid Design Festival.
The jury will award a first prize of €5,000, a second prize of €2,500, and three special mentions. The submission deadline is September 16, 2026. With this milestone, Andreu World reaffirms its commitment to the future of design.
