Meet Silva: KFI Studio’s New Wood Collection Shaping 2026 Design Trends

KFI Studios, a leading manufacturer of contract and hospitality furniture, has introduced Silva, its first fully wood furniture collection, designed in collaboration with Union Design. The line blends timeless craftsmanship with approachable modern forms, spotlighting the natural beauty of solid beech wood through soft curves and subtle satin finishes that feel warm, calm, and elevated.

The Silva Collection includes guest and lounge chairs, stools, and coordinating tables in occasional, standard, counter, and bar heights, making it versatile for workplace, hospitality, and social spaces. “It’s our first full wood collection, and something we’ve wanted to do for a long time,” says Chris Smith, CEO of KFI Studios. “It’s got that natural warmth and character that makes spaces feel instantly inviting.”

A signature detail, a steam-bent rear leg, flows in a single graceful line from floor to backrest, giving each piece a sculptural quietness. From gently rounded edges on seating to softly shaped square tabletops, Silva’s design details highlight the wood’s natural grain and character. “Every curve, edge, and contour was carefully considered to highlight the material, create comfort, and offer a sense of simplicity,” says Jeff Theesfeld, founder of Union Design.

The lounge chair, in particular, pushes the boundaries of wood bending with an elegant, continuous arc.

Silva is offered in seven stain options, expanding beyond classic wood tones to include modern color-drenched hues that let the grain show through: Natural, Timber, Coffee, Black, Navy, Evergreen, and Clay. Chairs can also be specified with or without upholstered seats, with a wide selection of graded-in textiles or COM.

Biophilic Design

As designers continue prioritizing wellbeing, natural materials and calming tactility are resurging. Silva’s all-wood construction, paired with finishes that enhance the natural wood grain, brings warmth to environments that benefit from a grounding, nature-inspired presence. “In times that are turbulent, or in spaces that can be stressful, bringing in nature can help create a beneficial environment.”

Moody Color Drenching

“For some time, a trend towards a lack of color has been popular, but this is shifting as people explore how to elevate spaces with colors.” Silva’s custom colored stains (like Navy, Evergreen, and Clay) align with the shift toward monochromatic, tone-on-tone interiors. These stains offer a refined way to create a color-saturated, unified aesthetic while preserving the integrity of natural wood.

Soft Oversized Forms

“A trend that seems to continue to have staying power are forms and details that are oversized and softened.” With people seeking comfort and softness, especially in the workplace where people have grown accustomed to the comfort of working from home, Silva’s rounded edges, softened profiles, and subtly oversized legs create an inviting, home-like feel without sacrificing sophistication.
