Amy Mays is the new IIDA NY Chapter President for the 2018-2019 term. Uniting A&D professionals throughout New York, the organization has been providing networking opportunities, educational events, and charitable initiatives since 1995.
Amy Mays, IIDA, Certified Interior Designer, currently leads HDR’s New York Interior Design studio, where every day is a balancing act of time and efforts related to design, teaching, research, and marketing. Her focus is specialized in the healthcare field, which she finds incredibly rewarding as it allows her opportunities to positively influence people’s experiences at a time when they may be especially vulnerable. Mays’ proudest design moment to date was in being a part of the design team that designed the first LEED platinum hospital in the U.S.
During her year-long tenure as chapter president, Amy will focus on new member initiatives; her main goal is to reach beyond those in the design industry and the collegiate community to engage the younger generation. With the belief that it’s never too early to start planning for the future, Amy plans to harness New York’s middle schoolers to provide them with insights into the ins and outs of the design industry.
