State of Design: Where We Work

Meadows Office Interiors partnered with Metropolis Magazine for a four part conversation series focused on the major issues surrounding workplace design today. State of Design: Where We Work is a continuing education program (CEU accredited) bringing together architects, interior designers, manufacturers, and experts in design to examine the emerging challenges and solutions facing the workplace.

The series kicked off in March with the first event, Design Hacking, which focused on how design can give employees the spaces and tools needed to enhance and support productivity as well as corporate goals. The panelists included Adrian Parra, Director of Marketing, North America, at Vitra; Kelly Funk, Senior Workplace Strategist at IA Interior Architects; and Randy Whinnery, Senior Director of Design at Fidelity Real Estate Company.

The second part of the series, Age-Neutral Design, took place in June and focused on creating environments that harness divserity and encourage employess of all generations to come together. Panelists included Gabrielle Rubin Deveaux, Senior Director of Corporate Real Estate at BuzzFeed, Dr. Michael O’Neill, Global Lead of Workplace Design at Haworth, and Tom Krizmanic, Principal of STUDIOS Architecture.

The third part of the series, Distraction-Free Design, took place on September 15th and focused on the acoustical and material solutions required to help create spaces that enhance employee performance and effective collaboration. Panelists included Joan Blumenfeld, Firmwide Interior Design Director at Perkins+Will, Renee Charles, Director of Workplace Strategy at AIG, Azar McMaster, VP of Product Management at 3form and Raj Patel, Principal of Arup.

The final part of the series, Wellness Design, will take place in November.

All four events in the series are at the Meadows Office Interiors Showroom in New York City.
