The New York City-based architect’s professional legacy is underscored by his kind and thoughtful management approach

Nationally ranked interior architecture firm The Switzer Group has announced the retirement of long-term employee and Principal Max Kawer. Max’s accomplishments over the course of his career include major design and programming projects for clients in the financial services sectors, including legal, banking and insurance industries.

Max excelled in managing complex technology-intensive projects—many of which involved the design and construction of large trading floors and data centers with mission critical infrastructure, redundant systems and sophisticated security control and audio-visual systems. Most recently, Kawer supervised a number of high profile workplace interiors, including Federal Home Loan Bank’s upscale, amenity-accessible space in Jersey City, New Jersey, and the new Metropolitan Commercial Bank offices at 99 Park Avenue.

“I am grateful for the contributions Max has made to The Switzer Group during his 15 years with the business,” said Lou Switzer, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer at The Switzer Group. “Max will be sorely missed, but we wish him all the best for his new chapter in life. We have no doubt he will continue to build upon his unique footprint in the world.”

Emblematic of his character, Max mastered the delicate balance of both guiding and listening to client goals, staff concerns and colleagues’ challenges, all while never losing his good-natured humor and respectful demeanor.

“I am proud to have been part of The Switzer Group’s New York City team, seeing remarkable growth and expansion over the last two decades,” says Max. “I look forward to watching the firm’s continued success during the bright future ahead.”
