Focus In and Color Compound collections designed by Suzanne Tick receive 2017 Good Design Awards
Luum Textiles announced that two of its new collections – Focus In and Color Compound – earned Good Design Awards in the annual international competition presented by The Chicago Athenaeum, together with The European Centre for Architecture, Art, Design and Urban Studies.
“This year’s historic 67th Good Design program,” states Christian Narkiewicz-Laine, Museum President, The Chicago Athenaeum, “recognizes the work of thousands of designers and manufacturers worldwide who have successfully undertaken the design challenge to produce the best and most outstanding design products across the globe to our large and expanding global consumers.”
“This pair of Good Design Awards for Focus In and Color Compound confirms that Luum is providing clients with inspired textiles that are highly relevant for the aesthetic and performance attributes required by today’s interior spaces,” said Dave White, Vice President of Luum Textiles. “Suzanne Tick, Luum’s Creative Director, continues to design award-winning upholstery, panel and wallcovering applications with a common design language that work together holistically.”

The Color Compound collection was inspired by the late architect Luis Barragan’s emotional architecture, where color is an essential design element that affects the way a space feels. The simple geometry, expressive color and raw surfaces seen in Barragan’s buildings are characteristic of this season’s trend towards a more restful and reflective environment, and are highlighted in the new collection’s styles, including Refraction, Intone, Fundamentals and Essentials.

As technology continues to redefine the way we engage, think and feel about interior spaces, traditional modes of interaction in offices, schools and hotels are being transformed through new tools that enable rapid communication. Focus In addresses the importance of today’s adaptable products in multi-purpose workplace environments. The collection comprises seven fabrics including Outpress, Knurl, Amalgam, Navigate, Heather Felt, Technoplaid and Mica Shift.
