As part of its ongoing commitment to preserve the environment and foster appreciation for the outdoors, Duluth-based Loll Designs is proud to present its latest donation to Chester Bowl Improvement Club on Monday, April 21st at 11:00 am CST, marking a milestone $100,000 in donations over the past five years to the beloved local park through Loll’s 1% for the Planet partnership.

“We believe it is important to give back to our community and our planet,” said Eric Swanson, CEO of Loll Designs. “This year we are proud to once again support Chester Bowl Improvement Club’s programs for the Duluth community to appreciate and engage with nature in a healthy and safe environment.”

The $100,000 total donation from Loll over five years supports Chester Bowl’s Growing Up Chester capital campaign, including the renovation of the Thom Storm Chalet. This project increases ADA accessibility and improves the building’s energy efficiency, ensuring inclusive and sustainable use for generations to come.

“Loll’s early support is a big factor in why we had the funds available to provide a match for the $2.3 million LCCMR grant opportunity,” said Dave Schaeffer, Executive Director of Chester Bowl Improvement Club. “That grant put us where we are now—raising the final 12% of our campaign goal. Loll has been such an important part of our fundraising, and their love for the community shows.”

The latest donation is part of Loll Designs’ continued commitment to supporting environmental nonprofits and encouraging outdoor access for all. Since becoming an early member of 1% for the Planet in 2008, Loll has donated 1% of the gross sales from all pieces in their bestselling flagship Lollygagger collection, to charitable groups. This year, donations include not only Chester Bowl, but also Cyclists of Gitchee Gumee Shores (COGGS), Hartley Nature Center, Friends of the Boundary Waters, and Voyager Conservancy.

Giving back is a value that runs deep at Loll, upheld by both the company as a whole and the passionate individuals behind it. In its 17th year as a 1% for the Planet member, Loll continues to think globally while acting locally, directing its annual giving to outdoor and environmental nonprofits working to connect people to nature. From outdoor recreation, education, conservation, and everything in between, Loll is proud to support organizations leading the charge to get people outdoors.
