A Modern Interpretation of Timeless Pendant Designs through Innovative Craftsmanship
LightArt, a leading lighting and design studio, announces the launch of the Somari Collection. This collection introduces nine paper-lantern-inspired pendants that blend sculptural form, stackable configurations, and sustainable innovation, culminating in a line of striking lighting solutions.
“In creating the Somari collection, we returned to the very origins of light, drawing inspiration from the timeless glow of candles and lanterns,” said Ryan Smith, Chief Creative Officer at LightArt. “Our vision was to translate that inviting, familiar warmth into beautiful, contemporary shapes through innovative American craftsmanship and advanced fabrication technology.”
Limitless Flexibility and Configurations
Inspired by the iconic mid-century paper lamps of Isamu Noguchi, the Somari Collection reimagines traditional lantern designs, emphasizing form, function, and flexibility across nine unique pendants. Designed as a decorative, glowing light source to bring warmth and comfort into commercial spaces, the collection features three lantern shapes—Saucer, Sphere, and Cylinder—each offered in small, medium, and large sizes. Somari pendants can be specified as singular fixtures, or as standard stacked configurations up to 8-feet in length that can be integrated vertically or horizontally into a space. Designers can also create custom stacked layouts by selecting different lantern shapes and sizes.
The closed pendants contain a cylindrical Casper core—ranging in 24-inches to 96-inches—to illuminate the thin yet sturdy paper-like structures. The integrated LED delivers high lumen output with a color temperature range of 2,700K to 4,000K and a CRI of 90. Tunable White options are also available for customizable lighting.

LightArt creates seven “Paper Series” colorways to complement the light and airy construction of the Somari pendants. Offered in Shiro (Matte Ivory White), Halo (Clear), Sail (Translucent Light Blue), Clover (Translucent Olive), Rosa (Translucent Pink), Sienna (Translucent Brown), and Loom (Translucent Gray), the curated palette allows designers to elicit different emotions across commercial spaces through color and light. Allowing for either a minimalist, single-color design or a bold, multi-layered statement, the Somari Collection is ideal for commercial spaces that require both decorative appeal and performance. The pendants can be suspended anywhere between one-foot to 20-feet from the ceiling as a single fixture above banquets or desks where accent lighting is needed, or in a cluster to create a dramatic lighting display in multi-story buildings.

Future-Forward Manufacturing
The Somari Collection joins LightArt’s portfolio of additive-manufactured lighting fixtures, including the Coil, Ocean Coil, and Clear Coil Collections. Since 2017, LightArt has conducted meticulous internal research and development to expand lighting manufacturing capabilities for large- and small-scale commercial environments. After several years of printing and design trials, the team has refined the manufacturing process in its U.S.-based plant. Creating each component in-house streamlines production, resulting in affordable, customizable, and sustainable lighting options.
