On May 19th, award-winning architect and designer Lauren Rottet in partnership with the ASID NY Metro Chapter hosted a special panel discussion titled ‘A Modern Approach to Biophilic Design’ at the Rottet Collection NYC showroom. The conversation explored how integrating natural elements into interior environments enhanced human well-being, health, and productivity. As a rapidly growing design methodology, biophilic design goes beyond aesthetics to create meaningful connections between people and nature through materials, light, spatial planning, and sensory experiences.
Led by Rottet, alongside sustainability and wellness experts Maria Lomanto, ASID NY Metro Past President and Michelle Jacobson, ASID NY Metro President-Elect, the session further examined real-world applications, and innovative strategies for incorporating nature into modern interiors. David Graver, Editor in Chief of Surface Magazine, served as moderator and helped guide the discussion and conversation.
