Landscape Forms Furthers Commitment to Sustainability, Joins 1% for the Planet

Landscape Forms, North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-design site furniture, structure, LED lighting, and accessories, announces it has joined 1% for the Planet, a global organization focused on inspiring businesses and individuals to support environmental nonprofits through membership and everyday actions.

“Landscape Forms has a longstanding history of participating in our community and supporting organizations we believe in,” says Marjorie Simmons, the company’s CEO. “And when you think of a nonprofit you want to be a part of, 1% for the Planet is the ideal candidate—they come from a good place, connecting companies like ours with other nonprofits to help create a more sustainable world.”

1% for the Planet pairs businesses with approved environmental nonprofits, creating high-impact partnerships that amplify the influence of their members’ giving. For 2021, Landscape Forms has pledged its donations to the Landscape Architecture Foundation, a nonprofit organization working to increase the impact of landscape architects in creating a more sustainable future.

“Currently, only 3% of total philanthropy goes to the environment and, only 5% of that comes from businesses,” says Kate Williams, CEO of 1% for the Planet. “The planet needs bigger support than this, and our growing network of business members is doing its part to increase giving and support on-the-ground outcomes. We’re excited to welcome Landscape Forms to our movement.”

Michael Blum, President of Landscape Forms’ Studio 431 and leader of the company’s Sustainability Team comments, “Environmental stewardship is a large component of our sustainability program, but it doesn’t end there. For us, sustainability is an ambition that runs throughout our entire company—how we treat our people, how we treat our customers, how we treat our planet, and how we make decisions at our company are all threads in a larger tapestry of sustainability.” Loll Designs, a Landscape Forms brand, has been part of the 1% for the Planet network since 2008.

Partnering with 1% for the Planet is just the latest initiative to grow out of Landscape Forms’ Sustainability Committee. The team is comprised of emerging leaders from all areas of the company who share a passion for environmentalism. The group is tasked with taking a fresh look at products, processes, programs, and facilities through a lens of sustainability, each member working with smaller teams in their areas to implement department wins while also tackling larger company-wide goals.

“It’s exciting to join with partners in the 1% for the Planet network, who value a commitment to the environment,” concludes Blum. “At the end of the day, we’re all about the outdoors—we play outdoors, we enrich outdoor experiences, and we want to ensure the longevity of these vital experiences for future generations.”
