Landscape Forms Celebrates Three 2021 GREEN GOOD DESIGN® Awards

Landscape Forms, North America’s leading designer and manufacturer of high-design site furniture, structure, LED lighting, and accessories, announces that it has won three 2021 GREEN GOOD DESIGN® Awards.

GREEN GOOD DESIGN is a special edition of the renowned GOOD DESIGN Awards program, presented jointly in 2021 by the Chicago Athenaeum: Museum of Architecture and Design and The European Centre for Architecture Art Design and Urban Studies. With the mission of “Build A Better World Now,” the awards celebrate products representing the most advanced “Green Approach” and the most sophisticated methods and technologies to make a positive impact on the environment.

“We’re so grateful for this recognition of our achievements in sustainable product design and manufacturing,” says Landscape Forms Chief Creative Officer, Kirt Martin.” It’s validation that the path we’ve chosen for our company is the right one — that sustainability is more than just good for the planet and good for the people; it’s also good for the product, and makes a strong economic story as well.”

The Landscape Forms awards span a range of its product categories—from outdoor lighting, to bench and lounge seating.  The winning products include Motive lighting, the Glide bench and the Americana lounge chair.

Motive is a comprehensive family of lights, designed by Justin Champaign, that emphasizes the beauty of illumination and its interaction with architecture, objects and space. With a focus on mitigating the ecologically disruptive impact of light pollution, Motive employs a hidden light source and, depending on the fixture, clear or diffused lenses and one to three distribution patterns. Their technologically advanced LED configuration produces smooth, even light with very low backlight, uplight or glare—major contributors to light trespass. Motive luminaires are International Dark-Sky Approved to minimize the amount of blue light in the nighttime environment.

The Americana lounge chair and the Glide bench are two outdoor seating solutions created in collaboration with Landscape Forms’ brand, Loll Designs. To ensure the most sustainable use of resources, both pieces utilize recycled material and innovative finishing techniques to maximize durability and longevity in outdoor spaces. Americana and Glide both use UV-resistant post-consumer recycled plastic (HDPE) polymer for their seats and backs, and commercial-grade aluminum supports and under-structures finished with Landscape Forms’ proprietary Pangard II® powdercoating to provide long, vibrant and low-maintenance lives.

“Receiving these awards from an organization like GOOD DESIGN, with such an influential history and role in global design, is especially energizing for our teams,” says Landscape Forms Chief Executive Officer, Marjorie Simmons. “Their work is being recognized and lauded by true leaders in the industry, and we can demonstrate that as a company, we can push for continuous improvement in our sustainability mission without sacrificing excellence in our design.”

“Sometimes people ask me if designing for sustainability is an obstacle to great product design.  I feel just the opposite,” adds Martin.  “Great product design thrives by responding to challenges, by elevating to reach a higher bar.  I’m proud to say, whether it’s the products honored by the GREEN GOOD DESIGN Awards, or the many others we have in the works, Landscape Forms is doing just that.”
