Classic upholstery patterns go vertical for sound absorption

impressionsKnollTextiles is thrilled to enter the acoustics marketplace with the Impressions collection. Impressions is a wall-mounted system that combines performance acoustics with clean, clear color and timeless modern design.

Six classic KnollTextiles patterns are ā€˜impressedā€™ onto a high performance ultra-thin acoustic substrate. Each tile is wrapped in 100% polyester, non woven fabric that uses a unique, multi-step process to entangle the fiber into a material suitable for vertical use. The tiles are GREENGUARD certified and may contribute to LEED certification.

Impressions is manufactured in the USA using specialized machinery and a proprietary breakthrough process creating the only ā€˜impressedā€™ acoustical wall tile of its kind. The beauty of Impressions is achieved by marrying the perfect material with this custom fabrication process.

Impressions scores an impressive NRC (noise reduction coefficient) rating ranging from 0:70 – 0:93 for frequencies in the 500-2,000 Hertz band, which is where the human voice registers. Acoustic engineers specify that the individual results by frequency are more relevant than the simple average used to calculate NRC. This is particularly true in commercial and hospitality settings where the goal of the panels is to absorb sound generated from people talking by minimizing the reverberation time of sound energy. One second or less reverberation time creates the ideal acoustic environment. Impressions acoustic tiles effectively contribute to that ideal environment. The overall NRC rating for Impressions is a notable 0.55.

Each 12ā€x12ā€ tile easily slides onto a Z-clip rail system which offers a consistent architectural base for creating a tiled wall. The Z-clip system allows for easy installation, alignment and adjustment in addition to allowing users to effectively slide tiles on and off for updates When installed, the system measures less than 1ā€ in profile allowing it to address acoustics while conserving space. Impressions is ordered as a kit complete with tiles, z-clips and rails.

Impressions is available in 16 colors, including warm and cool grey as well as bold, fashion forward brights. Impressions offers one solid tile in addition to the six ā€˜impressedā€™ tiles which feature organic and geometric patterns from the KnollTextiles line. Different levels of emboss add dimension and texture to the tiles turning walls into beautiful, sculptural surfaces. Prices range from $50-$61 including Z-Clips and rail. Impressions is appropriate for any commercial or residential space where sound absorption is desired.
