KnollTextiles is excited to introduce the Intertwine Collection: a cohesive group of five conceptually intertwined yet visually unique upholstery fabrics and two draperies. A single 1960s vintage fashion swatch served as the jumping off point for the collection. This vibrant, multi-colored fabric sparked an exploration of pattern, structure and geometry both on and off the grid.
Our design team visually de-constructed the vintage swatch extracting individual elements that became the genesis for 3 large scale woven patterns. Plaidtastic is directly informed by the multi-color grid of the fashion swatch. Each colorway of Plaidtastic has an exceptional 26 yarn colors. Expert color work combined with an extra-large repeat makes Plaidtastic a modern and lively plaid. Double Agent is a large scale digitally printed pattern that explores the tension created when organic and structured elements are combined. A dynamic and rhythmic effect is created as undulating lines intersect blocks of color. Wild Thing recreates the movement of the swatch’s textural ground in an exaggerated scale that can be read as a large scale or allover pattern.
The Intertwine Collection also includes Day Tripper, a two-tone solid with majority wool content giving it an exquisite hand. Groovy polyurethane has shimmering glitter pigments set against a dark ground creating a captivating illusion of movement and depth. Groovy is traditionally used for sneaker design and was developed for upholstery application exclusively for KnollTextiles.
There are two drapery fabrics in the Intertwine Collection. Donovan is woven with a mixture of wool and silk fibers giving it a sophisticated appearance, luxurious soft hand and easy drapablility. The use of silk noil yarn produces nubby multi-color flecks throughout the drapery. Donovan is the perfect backdrop to any interior. KnollTextiles adds to its selection of acoustic sheers with Bewitched. This innovative drapery has unique acoustical properties that absorbs up to 65% of the sound energy that contacts the fabric without interfering with the transmision of daylight into an interior. Bewitched has some luster and textural horizontal striations on the face of the fabric.
The name ‘Intertwine’ captures the spirit of the collection, where all patterns intertwine with each other, while experimenting with the interplay of scale, movement, color and weave structure. The collection has 5 upholstery fabrics and 2 draperies with prices ranging from $28-$78 per yard.
