Kimball’s manufacturing plant in Salem, IN, has been recommended for a three-year recertification to Voluntary Protection Program (VPP) Star Status by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA).
Created in 1982, OSHA’s VPP certification signifies the implementation of effective health and safety management systems and is attained only after an organization undergoes a rigorous onsite evaluation conducted by a team of health and safety professionals. The Star Status designation is the highest certification level granted by OSHA and is given to companies with exemplary safety and health management systems that have achieved injury and illness rates at or below the national average of their respective industries.
This important recertification, and renewed accomplishment, is a direct result of our employees’ continued commitment to operational excellence. The VPP recertification is a lengthy process. As part of the evaluation, extensive interviews are conducted directly with employees as an important barometer of a company’s overall safety and health program.
