Karen Daroff Retires from Interior Design Principal Role at NELSON Worldwide

Effective January 31, 2024, award winning, internationally prominent interior and architectural designer, Karen Daroff, is stepping down from her Design Principal role at NELSON Worldwide, to pursue her next life’s chapter.

Karen has enjoyed a remarkable 50-year career as an industry icon. She has provided leadership, innovation and mentorship to clients, teammates, and hundreds of aspiring designers across the country and internationally. Karen’s vision, creativity, authenticity, meticulous attention to detail and problem-solving expertise will continue to have a lasting impact in the field of design. She has been the recipient of numerous awards, including Interior Design Magazine’s Designer of the Year and induction into Hospitality Magazine’s Platinum Circle Hall of Fame.

As further acknowledgement of her stellar career, and the hundreds of students and designers she has mentored, on May 22nd, 2024, her alma mater, Moore College of Art and Design will host an event to honor Karen with their Visionary Woman of the Year award.

In June of 2022, Karen merged her Daroff Design team and client work in progress into NELSON Worldwide. This move, like so many other well-choreographed initiatives in Karen’s career, resulted in collaboration with NELSON, a firm of shared values, in the practice of architecture and interior design. This pivotal decision was focused on ensuring continuity for her talented team and a seamless transition for the firm’s valued clients.

With this background in mind, and after much consideration, Karen has decided that it is time for her next life’s chapter, with a less rigorous schedule, more time for personal travel, scuba diving, and private consultation with a few select clients.

NELSON is most grateful to Karen for the important contributions she has made to the firm and the industry during their partnership and wishes her the very best and much continued success.
