Kinetex Products and Landfill Free Achievement Named as Finalists for Two Prestigious Design Awards
J+J Flooring Group has been named a finalist for two prestigious design community awards. Kinetex products, Umbra and Umbra Stripe, have been named a Product Finalist in the flooring-hard surface category of Interior Design magazine’s Best of Year awards. The products were listed as finalists after being selected by interior designers and architects via an online vote in October.
Separately, the company’s zero waste to landfill achievement, the first in the floor covering industry, is a finalist in the environmental and sustainability category for the 2015 Mixology North Awards, a U.K.-based awards program that celebrates the dynamic and innovative interior design community.
The winners for both awards will be announced Dec. 3, during separate gala events in New York City and in Manchester, U.K.
Umbra and Umbra Stripe are 18″ x 36″ modular planks from Kinetex, an innovative textile composite flooring that combines the best attributes of soft and hard-surface flooring. Kinetex’s unique construction creates unparalleled acoustic performance and superior comfort. One of the most slip resistant floorings ever tested, it aids in reducing potential slip and fall injuries. It is also highly durable, resists staining agents and sequesters airborne allergens and irritants.
This June J+J Flooring Group announced it was the first U.S. commercial flooring manufacturer sending zero waste to landfill. The company is also the first in the industry to have that claim certified by an independent organization. Currently, waste not recycled, repurposed or reused is being sent to an energy-from-waste operator. This year, J+J expects to divert more than 5 million pounds of waste from landfills.
