A Three-Day Immersive Experience Celebrating the Power of Many Over One
March 24-26, 2022 | New York City
Design Industries Foundation Fighting AIDS (DIFFA) is proud to announce the launch of DIFFA BY DESIGN. DIFFA has transformed its signature annual fundraiser DINING BY DESIGN into a three-day immersive design experience. Held Thursday, March 24 to Saturday, March 26, 2022 at an all-new location in the heart of Manhattan, Center 415 (415 Fifth Avenue, NYC), DIFFA BY DESIGN will offer installations, interactive experiences, events, and more aimed to inspire the community and make an impact in the fight to combat AIDS, homelessness, food scarcity, and mental health issues across the country.
“Since the idea for DIFFA by DESIGN originated over two years ago, the world has changed and so has DIFFA! Many people are still struggling to live with HIV/AIDs and each day more continue to face additional challenges related to homelessness, food insecurity, and mental health. We see this as a pivotal moment to take action and to call attention to those grant organizations that provide treatment, direct-care services, preventive education programs, and advocacy for individuals affected by this myriad of issues,” comments Dawn Roberson, DIFFA’s Executive Director.
DIFFA BY DESIGN will invite local and international architects, designers, manufacturers, retailers, and other creatives to design extraordinary vignettes. Besides dining rooms, this year’s event will feature an expanded array of entertaining and culinary activations and experiences, including an immersive DIFFA Theater, panel discussions, musical entertainment, and two signature evening events: a VIP Opening Night Gala and Auction (March 24) and a DIFFA Dance Party (March 25) geared towards toward young professionals within the industry. Brands already on board are Benjamin Moore, EvensonBest, Florim, Gensler, Haworth, HOK, MENU, Rockwell Group, Shaw Contract, Studio TK, and WB Wood. Interior Design magazine is a Media Sponsor for the events.
The new DIFFA BY DESIGN harnesses our industry’s creative culture to create a truly unique and interactive experience. “Design is a powerful tool and, in this instance, it’s a call to action to help make a DIFFArence for those affected by HIV/AIDS. We’re calling on our community of architects, designers, artists and manufacturers to create environments that astound, inspire, and most importantly, raise money for such an important cause,” says Cindy Allen, DIFFA Board Chair and Interior Design’s Editor-in-Chief.
