After the overwhelming success of the Capas Table Collection, Davis Furniture, in collaboration with the acclaimed German design duo jehs+laub, is thrilled to announce the expansion of the series with the introduction of Capas Round Tables. Winner of the 2023 HIP Award and 2024 Architizer A+ Award, the original Capas Soft Square subtly reimagined occasional tables with its sculptural elegance by its seamless interplay of solids and voids. With Capas Round adding to the versatility of the collection, it introduces new nesting possibilities, seamlessly pairing with the original Capas shapes to create dynamic and cohesive compositions. Transforming the visual experience from light and ethereal to bold and monolithic, Capas Round continues to defy expectationsâlike its counterpartâeffortlessly shifting between delicate details and a powerful presence. With this latest addition, this celebrated collection offers even greater versatility, efficiently adapting to a wider range of spaces and applications.

âDerived from the Spanish term for âlayers.â Capas is a study in combining different paradoxical design elements, and when creating this collection, we wanted to achieve something that not only could be physically layered together, as when the tables are nested, but also in a more abstract, conceptual sense such as lightweight yet strong or substantial yet slim.â â jehs+laub

A bold exploration of aluminum, Capas is crafted from a seamless fusion of form and function. Each Capas is created when a 1/4″ sheet of solid aluminum, forming the table’s surface, is seamlessly welded with curved sheets of aluminum to form the two legs of the table. Because of the nature of the curved forms and the ingenuity of its design, only two legs are needed to support each table. This design detail enables the opposite corners of each piece to cantilever out, allowing for multiple Capas Tables to uniquely nest together. Capas creates a dynamic topographical composition when placed together. At the same time, its versatile design ensures that each table functions equally well as a standalone coffee table or a refined side table within a variety of interior applications. Further enhancing the collectionâs nesting capabilities, the Soft Square and Round variations are available in three sizesâsmall, medium, and largeâeach with varying heights and widths. The Capas Soft Square Tables range from 20â to 35â in width, while the Capas Round Tables span 20â to 35â in diameter. Heights range from 16â to 12â, allowing for thoughtfully layered arrangements and dynamic compositions.

Despite its bold presence, Capas remains lightweight and easily reconfigurable. Integrated slim plastic glides facilitate smooth movement across interior spaces, enhancing its adaptability. Further elevating its flexibility, Capas is available in a curated selection of over 35 powder coat finishes, ranging from sophisticated neutrals to lustrous pearls and Davis’ signature Color Trends, allowing for seamless integration into a wide range of design environments. With its seamless form, exquisite detailing, and refined aesthetic, Capas exemplifies both adaptability and craftsmanship, evoking excitement to utilize these dynamic tables within various applications ranging from corporate, hospitality, educational and even residential interiors. Defined by its seamless fusion of sculptural form and style, Capas stands as a testament to the power of thoughtful design. With its innovative craftsmanship and dynamic adaptability, Capas invites creativity and exploration, seamlessly integrating into diverse interior environments. As the collection continues to evolve with the addition of Capas Round, it offers new possibilities while maintaining its signature sculptural elegance.
