Space Features Conference Center, Salon and Multipurpose Room

Space planning, interiors and branding firm MKDA has completed the design of a 54,000-square-foot, two-floor Headquarters at 31 West 52nd Street between Fifth Avenue and Avenue of the Americas in Midtown Manhattan on behalf of private investment advisory firm Centerview Partners.

The interiors firm was most recently tapped to design 27,000 square feet of space on the 21st Floor following the build out of the 22nd Floor in 2010. Originally designed with architecturally timeless finishes, such as marble flooring, glass walls and warm walnut architectural panels, the two floors are connected by a glass, steel and wood staircase that provides visual continuity.

In addition, according to MKDA President Michael Kleinberg, “the graceful staircase connects a salon, multipurpose space and eight high-tech conference rooms situated across both floors, creating a large centralized conference center and event space.”

“The salon and multipurpose space promote teamwork and collaboration, while modernizing the workplace, originally given a timeless design to communicate success and preserve an elegant boutique intimacy,” added Kleinberg.

The salon featuring both high-top bar and booth seating provides a warm and inviting space for Centerview personnel to hold formal and informal community gatherings, while an adjoining multipurpose room provides ample room and configurations for training sessions, town hall meetings and special events.

The main work area is comprised of private offices with glass walls and walnut doors and frames, as well as elegant workstations that incorporate glass, fabric panels and ergonomic seating.

The design was executed using high-end materials, finishes and furnishings selected based on quality, sustainability and aesthetic refinement—a classic backdrop for a rotating exhibition of artwork curated from the New York City school system.
