Interior Design Announces New Venue and Date for 2017 Hall of Fame
Interior Design, a SANDOW publication and the leading authority and arbiter of design worldwide, has announced a new location and date for the 33rd annual Hall of Fame (HoF) Awards.
Hosted by Interior Design Editor in Chief, Cindy Allen, and Interior Design Publisher, Carol Cisco, the most anticipated event in the design industry will take place at the River Pavilion located in I.M. Pei’s Javits Center, on Manhattan’s West Side. For more than 30 years, the Hall of Fame was held in the Grand Ballroom of the Waldorf Astoria Hotel; due to their three-year renovation, Interior Design sought out a fresh location.
“The alchemy of finding a modern setting designed by a true icon on the occasion of his 100th anniversary was irresistible! Guests will see a whole new side of the building: one of light, scale, and extraordinary views of the Hudson River,” said Allen.
The Jacob K. Javits Convention Center was designed by I.M. Pei & Partners and opened in 1986. The elegant 45,000 square-foot, glass-enclosed River Pavilion is located on the 4th floor of the Center.
The Hall of Fame will be held on Thursday, November 30th, 2017.
Selected by Allen, and a nominating committee of previous HoF members, this year’s inductees will be announced in early fall of 2017.
The 12th annual Best of Year Awards will take place the following night, Friday, December 1st, at Frank Gehry’s IAC Building.
Interior Design along with Hall of Fame sponsors Sunbrella® and Sunbrella® Contract will debut an immersive design experience at the River Pavilion.
