HIGHLIGHTS
INTERIEUR 2018 opts for a more compact and professional format and will run for 5 days from October 18 to 22 in Kortrijk Xpo.
The scenography is in the hands of Claudio Saccucci (IT) and Roxane Van Hoof (NL) from Studio Verter. They will create an archetypal piazza that will cross and connect several halls.
Various designers, architects and artists – including Conrad Willems (BE), Adam Nathaniel Furman (UK), Chmara Ronsinke(AUT) and Arno Brandlhuber (DE) – will add unique installations.
The Floor is Yours, the platform for young talent, returns to the Kortrijk Xpo.
The winners of the Interieur Awards – including Bram Kerhofs (BE) and SCMP Design Office (FR) – will be presented in an exhibition. And the 3 winning bars – Café Gyproc, Geofood and Bar Op – will welcome the visitors in an original setting. Discover all winning projects here.
WHAT’S NEW?
Greetings from Stockholm
Hem is a fairly new kid on the Swedish design block. This independent design brand is looking to create a new generation of furniture, accessories and lighting. Working together with vanguard designers like Max Lamb, Luca Nichetto and Julien Renault, Hem offers high-quality objects for homes and workplaces all over the world. Their main point of sales is hem.com. This approach allows Hem to cut back on costs, which is also notable in the end price.
Experience and innovation
Ever since 1896, Alape delivers qualitative, stylish and leading bathroom designs. The first built-in wash basin and the combination of a basin in a cabinet were made by this German brand. An Alape design can be recognized by its purist language, clear shapes, high quality and precise finishing. One of the recurrent, characterizing materials is glazed steel, offering a unique touch while adding ease of use, a wide variety of shapes and dimensions and a long-lasting, robust surface.
Laminate Love
Founded at the end of the 1950s, Abet Laminati is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of decorative laminate. This Italian company has an endless number of products with different characteristics, aesthetic peculiarities and functions. They have a solution for every imaginable use like flooring, walls and furniture. The company has always given thought to the relationship between design and culture, collaborating with designers like Ettore Sottsass, Joe Colombo and Konstantin Grcic.
Sister act
IKON KØBENHAVN creates handmade tile tables. Founded in 2016 by two sisters, Amalie and Sarah Thorgaard, IKON focusses on just a few products inspired by “everyday life, the people we meet and our travels”. Their mission is to create the highest quality furniture that doesn’t compromise on aesthetics. While sticking to the same basic idea, they play with different materials, colours and sizes to create these unique multifunctional pieces of furniture.
