Industrial Designer Michael Porzio Joins WallGoldfinger Team

Michael Porzio

Industrial designer Michael Porzio of Massachusetts has joined custom corporate furniture maker WallGoldfinger in Randolph, Vt.

2015.1123.Re-S.Michael PorzioA graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design in Providence, Porzio previously held internships at Core Composites in Bristol, R.I., and NASA in Houston.

At Core Composites, Porzio was a prototype drafter. At NASA, he designed and fabricated the toilet (wall-mounted, close quarters, gravity defining “waste management system”) for the Orion Spacecraft along with other projects. Designed for deep space travel, Orion is expected to travel to Mars, with Porzio’s toilet on board.

A native of Lakeville, Mass., Porzio is now fulfilling a goal of living in Vermont.

“I always wanted to live in Vermont. That was my dream,” says Porzio, who has family in Putney and enjoys Vermont’s outdoor recreation opportunities, including skiing, biking and hiking.

He joined WallGoldfinger last month and is residing in Braintree.

WallGoldfinger’s work creating large boardroom tables and other high-end corporate furniture is new to Porzio, but not entirely so. “My father’s a woodworker. On my mother’s side there are a lot of woodworkers. It’s always been part of my life,” says Porzio, who is now designing WallGoldfinger’s furniture in SOLIDWORKS three dimensional computer aided design software, and loving it.

“Vermont’s everything I always wanted it to be,” he says. “The job is cool. I’m impressed with what WallGoldfinger does. I didn’t think it was possible. There’s so much ingenuity.”
