IIDEXCanada Welcomes Karim Rashid as an #IIDEX16 keynote!
Karim is a New York-based, Canadian designer whose prolific sense of design is responsible for some of the most recognizable objects that we interact with today. This has made him one of the most highly sought-after designers to work with. He has collaborated with some of the most well-known global product, retail, luxury, and high-tech brands to deliver his signature style of democratic design, such as Umbra, Artemide and 3M to Audi, LG Hausys, Deutsche Bank and Veuve Clicquot. Karim’s distinctive style permeates through and through interior and architectural projects he has worked on including the Semiramis hotel in Athens, the nhow hotel in Berlin, the Poli House – Tel Aviv Hotel in Israel, and Morimoto restaurant in Philadelphia, to name a few.
Karim holds numerous coveted awards for his work: Red Dot award; Chicago Athenaeum Good Design award; Interior Design Best of Year award; and the IDSA Industrial Design Excellence award, as well as honourary doctorates for his contributions to the design world.

IIDEXCanada welcomes Ian Chodikoff
We are excited to announce that Ian Chodikoff is joining the IIDEXCanada team as its new Director of Marketing & Programming. Ian is an architect whose professional interests include design research, publications, exhibitions, and public and private consulting projects. He has served on a variety of advisory boards and design review panels. Ian has taught at several universities and has written for numerous publications, moderated and lectured on a long list of issues affecting the built environment, in addition to coordinating various public workshops and continuing education seminars.

Get ready for the launch of IIDEXTV at the Innovators Pavilion at IIDEXCanada 2016. New to the IIDEXCanada show floor, the Innovators Pavilion is a place where designers will discuss their latest projects in action. It will feature 15 award-winning Canadian projects and products in conversation with leading innovators showcasing their unique project solutions. These short video stories will be hosted on IIDEXTV and available online now and throughout the year.

Young Creatives: Participate in a Lighting Installation
Design and execute a lighting installation in historic Victoria Memorial Square at Wellington and Portland Streets as part of Nuit Blanche 2016. The Toronto Lighting Collaborative invites students and young professionals in the fields of lighting design, architecture and interior design to create site-specific installations that will illuminate landscape features and public art in Victoria Memorial Square. Participants will take part in a hands-on workshop moving through the design process from concept to implementation led by industry leaders and Toronto artist Dereck Revington.
