IIDA NY’s Fifth Annual Hazel Siegel Scholarship Now Open

Three Students to Be Awarded Mentorship and Professional Development Opportunities in Honor of the Late Design Leader

The International Interior Design Association’s New York Chapter (IIDA NY) proudly announces its fifth annual Hazel Siegel Student Scholarship. The scholarship celebrates the contributions of Hazel Siegel, a renowned textile designer and devoted chapter member whose leadership and accomplishments spanned more than four decades.

Following Hazel Siegel’s passing in 2020, IIDA NY launched an initiative to celebrate her enduring contributions to the design industry. Over her 40-year career, Siegel held numerous leadership roles and received multiple honors. She served as Creative Director at KnollTextiles and founded Textus, a modern design–focused textiles company, which was later acquired by Momentum Group, and also taught textiles at the Pratt Institute for more than 10 years.

“This scholarship celebrates Hazel’s remarkable legacy and her commitment to nurturing talent in the design community,” said Lauren Titsworth, Co-Chair of the IIDA NY Hazel Siegel Scholarship Committee. “We’re excited to see how it will inspire the next generation of designers, giving them access to experiences that expand their knowledge, strengthen their portfolios, and connect them with industry leaders,” added Michelle Schutt, Co-Chair of the IIDA NY Hazel Siegel Scholarship Committee.

This year’s scholarship is generously sponsored by Momentum Textiles, continuing the legacy of their esteemed colleague and collaborator, Hazel Siegel. Three grand prize winners will enjoy an all-expenses-paid, three-day trip to IIDA’s SHIFT Conference in Dallas, TX. The conference offers students, educators, and design professionals a multi-day experience focused on professional growth and industry insights. Attendees can participate in firm and project tours, portfolio reviews, mock interviews with practicing professionals, an industry expo, continuing education sessions, and a wide range of networking opportunities. In addition, winners will receive a one-year student membership to IIDA NY.

The scholarship is open to currently enrolled New York State Undergraduate + Graduate Interior Design students in good academic standing. Applicants must be available to participate in the SHIFT Conference from February 11-13, 2026. Applications are due by Friday, December 5th, 2025, at 11:59 pm.
