The International Interior Design Association (IIDA), in collaboration with Designworks, a BMW Group Company, is pleased to announce FM. Returning Hut also was a Residences Single Family category winner. FM. “Returning Hut, by FM. X Interior Design, rose to the top among a field of first-rate international design projects submitted to the Global Excellence Awards,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “With interior design, architecture, and furnishings all complementing one another in this calming and refined residence, we’re proud to award the project as Best in Competition.

Projects for the Global Excellence Awards were reviewed by Johannes Lampela, Director of Design, Designworks LA, a BMW Group Company; Mary Jo Miller, Ind. IIDA, VP of Design and Development, HBF Textiles; Brett Shwery, IIDA, AAIA, CID, LEED AP BD+C, SVP, Corporate Workplace, AECOM; and Anabella Smith, Principal and Director of Interior Design, Zyscovich Architects.

“The natural materials—glass, wood, and stone—were used in total harmony and with impeccable detail,” said Shwery, on behalf of the judges. “Stunning views and an inspired use of light and textiles allow the surroundings to become part of the design of Returning Hut.”
