IIDA CEO Cheryl Durst to Present at Interact Conference

The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) will present two programs at Interact: The Definitive Conference on Contract Textiles on Wednesday, Oct. 7. The conference, hosted by the Association for Contract Textiles (ACT), is a two-day networking and educational event featuring informative sessions about industry-related topics such as the global textile environment, sustainability, and business and design trends in the contract marketplace.

“We are thrilled to have IIDA Members showcasing their expertise and insight into the future of interior design and architecture at Interact,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “Our presentations will explore the impact design has had, and will continue to have, on our culture as well as the intersection of design, technology, work, and life – topics of vital importance not only to our industry, but also to society-at-large.”

Durst will present “Design and Culture: A Global Imperative” on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 10:15 a.m. Her presentation will explore how the diverse multidisciplinary aspects of design have impacted life, culture, commerce, and brand. Durst also will discuss how the blur between work and life can be leveraged to our advantage.

Bill Bouchey, IIDA (Design Director, VOA Architecture), Hans J. Galutera, Associate IIDA, MDIA, Hon. SBID (Co-founder and Principal, BG Studio International), and Jon Otis, IIDA (Principal and Creative Director, Object Agency) will serve as panelists during the program, “CultureCode: Lifestyle, Luxury, Demographics, and the Economy (And Why Design Matters Now, More Than Ever)” on Wednesday, Oct. 7 at 11:35 a.m. The expert panel will lead an insightful conversation about design as the catalyst in an “experience economy.” Durst will moderate this engaging dialogue on culture, place, money, and why brand experts care how old you are, but design doesn’t.

Interact: The Definitive Conference on Contract Textiles takes place Oct. 6 – 7, 2015 at New York University’s Kimmel Center. For more information, visit http://contracttextiles.org
