IIDA Appoints Yasmin Spiro as Director of Content and Strategy

IIDA announces the appointment of Yasmin Spiro to the role of Director of Content and Strategy.

Spiro comes to IIDA with a unique creative background that spans more than 20 years of content and marketing experience in the architecture and design industry, including marketing leadership positions at Gensler and Interior Design magazine. Spiro most recently served as an industry marketing consultant, which included work for IIDA, specializing in web development and design, brand strategy, communications, and proposal development.

In this new position, Spiro will be tasked with leading the direction of digital and programming content in partnership with IIDA leadership as well as the Association’s sales, marketing, and education teams. Additionally, she will spearhead the development and execution of integrated programs, symposia, and partnerships aimed at building opportunities to further the Association’s industry leadership.

“Welcoming Yasmin to this new position at IIDA comes at a pivotal time for our organization,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “As we launch into a new decade, the importance of thoughtful design and its relevance in our everyday lives couldn’t be more palpable. It is vital we continue to further the Association’s goals and on behalf of the industry as we build new partnerships and grow existing ones. Yasmin’s role will be essential in carrying out these initiatives through a strategic and thoughtful approach that we have seen her execute in her previous work for IIDA.”

While at Gensler, Spiro served as regional strategist in Chicago. In this position, she developed, led and executed marketing campaigns to drive thought leadership and elevate the firm’s staff and office. Spiro also held marketing roles at Interior Design magazine in New York, where she led the development of a variety of marketing programs at this top interior design industry publication. Spiro received her BFA and carried out her MFA studies at the Pratt Institute in New York.

“I’m honored to be joining IIDA to lead the strategic development of content for the organization’s digital and programming channels. I’ve had wonderful experiences working with the Association for many years in various roles at design firms and with media partners. I’m happy to continue being part of this dynamic community of designers and creatives, working alongside Cheryl, John, and the wonderful team at IIDA,” said Spiro.

Spiro will be based at IIDA Headquarters in Chicago.
