IIDA Announces Winners of 23rd Annual IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Awards

IIDA is pleased to announce the winners of the 2019 IIDA/HD Expo Product Design Awards. This competition honors innovation, function, and aesthetic advancements in the hospitality industry. Entries were judged for design innovation, technical advancements, cost and value, environmental responsibility, aesthetics, need, and usage.

“Human-centric, location-specific design is critical in creating memorable and beneficial hospitality experiences, and product design plays a crucial role in this exchange,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA. “The winners of this year’s competition demonstrate mindfulness about the future of hospitality environments. Their products are adaptable, aesthetically engaging, and user-friendly.”

Entries were judged by a jury of design professionals, including James Lee, director of design, hospitality, LEO A DALY; Cristi Moore, IIDA, ASID, senior associate, design director, co-director, Hospitality Studio, Gensler Atlanta; and Holly Nixon, design director, V Starr Interiors.

“We were pleased to see so many impactful, forward-thinking, and thoughtfully designed products in this year’s competition,” said Moore on behalf of the jury. “The winners remind us that products are paramount in the creation of a design experience, especially in hospitality spaces that cater to a variety of people, preferences, and comfort levels.”
