2016.0411.Katie HauserThe International Interior Design Association (IIDA) is proud to announce Katie Hauser, IIDA, LEED AP, as the 2016 Member of the Year. This award honors an IIDA Member whose commitment to the industry is visibly demonstrated through extensive volunteer efforts and dedication to the IIDA mission of advancing interior design and advocating for its excellence. The IIDA Member of the Year also receives $7,500, sponsored by Contract magazine.

Hauserā€™s commitment to IIDA and the Interior Design profession began as an interior design student at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio, where she served as Vice President of the universityā€™s IIDA Campus Center. After graduating, Hauser continued her involvement with IIDA, eventually becoming treasurer of the Ohio Kentucky Chapter. As treasurer, Hauser helped to spearhead the development of the Ohio Kentucky Partnership Program, which raises more than $50,000 a year and funds various Chapter and City Center programming, including the Annual Chapter Conference and the Chapter Advocacy Tour. During her term as Ohio Kentucky Chapter President from 2014-2015, Hauser presided over the day-to-day business of the Chapter, while also focusing on the future. She established the Chapterā€™s Visioning Committee, which serves to elevate Chapter programming, and is charged with managing longā€term, strategic planning initiatives, establishing yearly Chapter goals, and providing a roadmap for obtaining those goals.

Hauser, who is currently an Account Executive at Interface, actively volunteers for other organizations, including the Akron-Canton Regional Foodbank and Akron’s Zero Landfill program. She also serves as a mentor through AIA Cleveland’s mentorship program and remains involved with Kent State Universityā€™s Interior Design program.

ā€œKatie is a natural leader who embodies professionalism, passion, and enthusiasm for the Interior Design industry. As a dedicated and tireless volunteer, she has been a driving force behind the success of the Ohio Kentucky IIDA Chapter,ā€ said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. ā€œHer work has created and expanded opportunities for IIDA Members, and we are proud to honor her as our 2016 IIDA Member of the Year.ā€

Hauser will be presented with the award and celebrated at the IIDA Annual Meeting on Sunday, June 12, 2016, at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Chicago. For more information about the IIDA Member of the Year Award, visit iida.org.
