IIDA Announces IIDA/HD Product Design Competition Winners
The International Interior Design Association (IIDA) proudly announces the winners of the IIDA/HD Product Design Competition, presented in partnership with Hospitality Design magazine. The competition, open to exhibitors at HD Expo 2017, honors innovation, functionality, and aesthetic advancements in product design for the hospitality industry. Awards were presented in 17 categories, and MDC was honored with the Eric Engstrom Best of Competition Award for its product, Zintra Acoustic Solutions.
“For more than 20 years, the IIDA/HD Product Design Competition at HD Expo has been celebrating the best in product design for the hospitality industry,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “This year’s winners exemplify the evolution of products for this ever-changing industry and demonstrate the highest level of creativity, sophistication, and utility.”
Products were evaluated by a panel of distinguished jurors that included: Christopher Evans, associate principal, Rottet Studio; Kelie Mayfield, IIDA, principal, Mayfield and Ragni Studio; and Patricia Rotondo, IIDA, senior principal/director of interior design, Antunovich Associates.
“Product entries ranged from technological solutions to handmade quality craft. Winning products focused on solving hospitality problems sustainably and beautifully as well as using traditional materials in new and innovative ways,” said Rotondo on behalf of the jury. “We congratulate all the winners of this year’s IIDA/HD Product Design Competition.”
