IIDA proudly announces the winners of the 6th annual IIDA Latin America Design Awards. The awards recognize outstanding interior design and architecture projects representing the highest level of creativity, originality, and design excellence from Latin America and the Caribbean.

Each year, the IIDA Latin America Design Awards remind us about the importance of authenticity, culture, and the locale,” said IIDA Executive Vice President and CEO Cheryl S. Durst, Hon. FIIDA, LEED AP. “This year’s winners are a testament to extraordinary design talent in this region, raising the bar for designers everywhere.”
Projects were reviewed by a panel of design professionals, including Samuel Lamas, creative director, Equipe LAMAS; Annhy Shim-Morel, Assoc. IIDA, principal and design director, SHIM PROJECTS; and Barbara Turpin-Vickroy, IIDA, associate principal and director of interior design, CCS Architecture.

All entrants were eligible for an additional award – the Narrative Award – which recognizes a project with a compelling statement that described significant challenges or extraordinary circumstances that were overcome in order to deliver the project. The winner of this year’s Narrative Award is Cadena Concept Design, Nuevo Leon, MX, for its project, Il Mercato Gentiloni.
All winners will be celebrated at an awards presentation and reception at the IIDA IDEA Studio in Chicago, on Thursday, July 19, 2018, from 6 – 8 p.m. to recognize the winning projects and announce the Best of Competition winner. Winning projects will also be featured on the IIDA website, on IIDA social media channels to more than 300,000 followers, and in Contract magazine.
